On the 4th day of October, we went to La Castellana Dumpsite to witness the actual situation of the garbage.
The said dumpsite has been operating now for 21 years and the waste still continues to pile up.We interviewed Mr. Rufie Dizon who is a caretaker of the dumpsite and has been working there for 11 years. According to him all 13 Barangays of La Castellana including all schools deposit their garbage on the said dumpsite. Is it estimated that 2-3 trucks of garbage were dump everyday. The waste collected are compose of mostly plastic and plastic bottles which are recyclable and profitable materials. The waste collected were unsegregated that emits bad awful odor and an eye sore. According to him the Mayor is aiming to implement segregation but was not followed by people who lack discipline.
